Hard hit, but still grinnin'...

Not to complain, but today was rough. Worked hard, got stung by a bee, fell on my boat and bruised my ribs up good. But it all got OK when I got home and got to hang out with the gang... Hannah took some more pictures tonight. Here's a few:

Still reelin' from the Elijah rock...

Seems that everyday i'm confronted with at least one moment of irrefutable proof that life is a miracle. If i'm really awake and aware, i begin to sense a kind of theme developing on any given day. Not to blow my cover from the start here, but today i'm just blown away with the power of quiet affirmation...
So it all started out with a beautiful sunrise on my morning mail run. But what really knocked me sailing was something i saw in Elijah's eyes. And here i thought i was the one showing him love...He flashed a smile at me this morning that completely messed up my normal routine. I won't even try to post a picture of that, much less put it into words.
The Spirit of Life must indeed alight on very soft wings; Elijah's whole face glows with rapt attention when i whisper to him. Babies aren't supposed to be this focused are they? All his jerky, little baby-motions stop, his eyes become these dark little pools of wonderment, and he listens mouth open almost without breathing.
Bella saw me whispering to him tonight and said sarcastically, " Daddy, he doesn't even know what love means."
I assured her that he can at least feel it and that she can try it anytime herself. She must have been convinced because she spent the rest of the evening whispering to me!
How badly i have missed using this moment by moment language of love. How much i want now to revel in it daily!
